Welcome to the UPC Habitat for Humanity July Update. In place of a full newsletter this month, just a few brief informational items: * OTHELLO PLACE DEDICATION -- On Saturday August 13th, the dedication of the Othello Place houses we've been helping to build will take place at 2pm. Come join us in helping to dedicate the buildings and to welcome the families whose homes they will be. * VOLUNTEERS NEEDED -- Our volunteer sign-ups dropped off significantly in July, and a number of slots in August still need to be filled. Construction will proceed directly from the current buildings into the next six-plex and single-family home (referred to as Othello II), so even after the dedication, work will continue as usual. Summer is a busy time for all of us, but if you have time to come out and volunteer in the months to come, we could use your help! As always, sign up at http://www.volunteerhub.com (if you need a refresher course in how to sign up, check the February newsletter in the archives area as described below). * CONSTRUCTION UPDATE -- Recent work on the houses has focused on finishing up the interiors: painting, adding trim to the floors, preparing for carpeting, and generally getting the rooms ship-shape. We're almost there! * FINANCIAL UPDATE -- We are still about $7,000 dollars short of meeting our $65,000 commitment to sponsor our Othello Place home. If you are able to help us close this final gap, please send your contributions to UPC, clearly marking them as being for UPC--Habitat for Humanity. * ANNUAL BREAKFAST REMINDER -- Our annual UPC Habitat for Humanity breakfast fundraiser will be held at UPC on Friday morning, October 14th to provide information about Habitat for Humanity and our partnership with them, as well as to kick off the fundraising effort for the next house that we will be sponsoring. If you would like to help organize the breakfast or to attend, please contact Margaret Mesaros at 206-546-8955. * FEEDBACK? -- As always, we are interested in hearing how this ministry is working for you. We're interested in receiving any stories about how working with Habitat has touched your life, as well as any suggestions you might have for making this ministry more effective. Please send any comments or feedback to brad@drizzle.com, mentioning "habitat" in your subject line (or simply respond to this mail).
